Just for Fun Combat - Saturday May 17

Scott Anderson and Twin City Radio Controllers are hosting a Just for Fun Combat event Saturday May 17th.  It will be held at the club's Jordan field.  If the flood waters are still affecting the field the alternate site is the Scott County Fairgrounds which is just down the road from the TCRC field.  Click here for a map and site description for both the TCRC Jordan field and the Scott County Fairgrounds.

ONE DESIGN - SPAD GNATS - OS.15LA or similar SSC engine/prop rules.
Pilot meeting 9:00 AM Combat @ 10:00 AM

Scott Anderson will have streamers and string.

Bring your .15 power SPAD Gnats and join us for some fun! If you are not flying and just want to see some action, come out and help us count the cuts!

Micro Pylon Race - Sunday May 18

The first race will be held on Sunday May 18th.  Warm-ups will start at 12:00PM with the first race at 1:30PM.

If the flood waters are still affecting the field we will use the alternate site - the Scott County Fairgrounds which is just down the road from the TCRC field.  Click here for a map and site description for both the TCRC Jordan field and the Scott County Fairgrounds.

Main Field Closed Due to Flooding

The main field has started to take on water.  As of Tuesday April 29th about 100 feet of the runways are under water and there is water under the shelter.  Once the water recedes it will take a week or so to dry up the parking lot so that it can sustain traffic again.  Thanks to Bill Jennings for going down to the field on Tuesday to get an update on the conditions.

The board has signed an agreement with the Scott County Fairgrounds to use their main parking field as our alternate flying area when our field is not accessible.  This agreement runs through November 2008.  If you fly at the fairgrounds please call or send an email to Mike Burk with the date flown.  We pay the fairgrounds an $18 per day usage fee.  Details on the fairgrounds site layout is included in the 2007 and 2008 Rosters.  You can look at the 2008 Roster online under the Member's Only link to the left.  Contact the board or webmaster if you need the password.  The username is tcrc.  If there are any changes in the site availability it will be posted on the home page.

Since our two flying sites are very close please only fly at the open site as to avoid any radio interference.

Micro Pylon Race Postponed

Due to rising flood waters moving toward our field the first Micro Pylon League race which was scheduled for Sunday May 4th has been postponed to the alternate date of Sunday May 18th.  Warm-ups will be at 12PM and the first race at 1:30PM.

This give the races a little more time to get there war bird ready.  The webmaster's P-51D Mustang nicknamed "Spare Parts" due to a flight testing mishap is ready to race.  And as seen on the Military Channel - the -51D Mustang was named the best war bird in history.

River Level Watch

With the recent spring rain it is time again to keep an eye on the river level.  Click the Jordan River Monitor link to the left to see the current level.  Our field starts to flood from the east side when the level reads 18.5 feet.  At around 19.5 water is under the shelter and in the parking lot.

All of the remaining starting benches and biffy were moved to the top of the hill by the sheds by Pat Dziuk on Saturday April 26th.  Let's hope for low spring water levels this year.

Check the website the morning of any spring events to get the latest on the field conditions and cancelations.

May Edition of the Flare-out is now Online

The May edition of the Flare-out newsletter is now on line for viewing.  Click on the Newsletter link to the left.  Note that it is almost 1.6MB in size so dialup users will need to go get a cup of coffee while it downloads.

Reminder to all People Flying at the Jordan Field or Fairgrounds

Anybody who fly's at the Jordan field or Fairgrounds must display a 2008 AMA membership card or 2008 TCRC membership card in order to fly.  A no exceptions policy will be enforced.  This is a requirement of our AMA Club Charter and insurance policy.

We ask that current members help enforce this rule as we are all responsible to protect our flying sites.  If you witness somebody flying without a current card please politely inform them of our policy and ask them to stop flying until they can show proof of membership.
